- To help 1000s of people start, re-start or maintain their journey into strength and fitness
- Educate people on various aspects of training and nutrition
- Link up with well respected trainers for guest posts
- What is my training philosophy, why it works and who I follow in the industry
- Give out various lifestyle tips that can help improve your performance in the gym
- Have fun expressing my views on the things that I am truly passionate about.
I am writing my first blog post from a sun lounger by the pool while on my honeymoon in Mexico. It is beautiful, peaceful and probably the most relaxed and laid back I have been in a long time. I definitely needed the break but after a few days I broke. I was back training and my little pea brain was working overtime on how to push my business forward for the future.
I have a few plans in action at the minute and they will all be revealed in due course. I am excited and so should you be, the future is bright.
I have my beliefs about how to train both myself and my clients. Will that be the same as the trainer in the nearest gym?
Hmmmmm!
Yes…….. No…….
Who cares really!
I will concentrate on my own training facility rather than constantly checking to see what others are doing around me and get further sucked into the bullshit. I am smart enough to know when to adapt my methods for certain clients and smart enough to seek advice and learn from more experienced fitness professionals who I look up to and respect.
I have always thought of writing a blog to express my views on various aspects of fitness, strength and lifestyle.
Will it be controversial?
Who the fuck knows, only time will tell.
One thing you will definitely get though is an honest, no bullshit approach to fitness and nutrition with a massive side of simplicity.
At some point in the last decade or so people have started to really over complicate training. There are many reasons for this, the Internet, social media, fitness magazines etc.
Let’s not forget the local gym user who has become the hot new fitness expert. He has watched a few you tube clips and has purchased a set of lifting gloves, an under armour and a scary looking weight belt to keep his stomach lean. When training the newbies at the gym he shows them how to maximise bicep growth by picking the heaviest dumbbells and swinging their body and arms back and fourth in an uncontrollable manner while super setting it with a 1/4 range barbell back squat to hit the inner side of the left quadricep.
Oh really! Sounds cool I must try it hmmmm!
This may seem funny and far fetched but there is some crazy shit going on out there in private, public and commercial gyms everywhere.
What happened to keeping it simple like the old school greats did back in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s with a staple of heavy training of squats, deadlifts, rows, presses, chins and dips. There where no fancy machines or 700 different ways to effectively build muscle and lose fat. They got strong by lifting heavy shit and used lighter loads for assistance work, simplicity all the way!
I want to bring the simple approach back to you, being able to train hard for 45 mins 3-4 times per week is enough for the majority of people to get strong and well conditioned.
Yes, I do believe everyone who is able to should do some form of strength training to improve their life. I also believe they should be able to move freely, walk on all fours more often, practise body weight moves, and take part in a sport or activity that they whole heartly enjoy.
That’s it for the first post I hope you enjoyed it!
Feel free to leave feedback.
