HOW TO LOOK GOOD ON A BEACH?

img_0170

img_01891The summer time has arrived and a lot of people will be interested in getting in shape for their holidays.

Men want to pump up the pecs and have a six pack and women want to fit into the smallest bikini with a flat stomach and a tight ass.

There is something about a beach holiday that makes people instantly think about eating healthy and getting active to help burn the excess fat.

Why?

There can be many reasons people feel the need to exercise or eat healthier coming up to a holiday. I have listed a few below

  • Vanity
  • Insecurities
  • Jealousy
  • Confidence
  • Peer pressure
  • Feel and look good

With the rise in social media people’s perception of how to look good on a beach has changed dramatically. Just type into google bikini fitness models on Instagram and the image is pretty standard.

Hot women with a slim waist line, tight bums and well developed chest. The same for guys you see the massive chest, big arms and ripped torso.

What is there not be insecure about?

It’s very easy to compare and get down on yourself before you even go on holiday.

You instantly start to criticise your own body

OMG!!! Is that cellulite and a double chin, I never had that before.

The alarming pressure and scrutiny you put yourself under because you feel a social pressure to look like them.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to look like that and I can relate to the male readers. That sense of wanting to look good on the beach and feel comfortable with your semi-naked state.

How about for a change you forget about all the celebrities in the magazines and all the fitness models on social media and concentrate on you.

Focus on yourself, look to feel good in your own body, be confident and proud of what you can achieve.

Take action NOW!

One thing I have come to notice as a coach is that around June, July and August there is a lot of new people starting  their own fitness journey.

It is great to see.

I love seeing people looking after themselves whether it is for vanity, health or to improve general well-being. The problem is many people start with unrealistic expectations of what is achievable in terms of body re-composition.

I call it silly season for this reason.

I am not being negative.

I am simply stating what I have seen and learnt over the last few years as a coach.

It is not uncommon for a trainer to be approached by a client 4 weeks before going on holiday and asked to lose 40lbs or with a picture Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and asking to have a chest and arms like him in 23 days before the lads holiday.

A good coach will be up front and honest with you about what is realistic and unrealistic in a given time frame.

Of course another coach/trainer may tell you what you want to hear so they can take your hard earned money, but that would be unfair and not very professional.
9 times out of 10 common sense must prevail. It did not take you 4 weeks to go from 50kg to 100kg so it’s definitely not going to take 4 weeks to lose it all.

How do you achieve your desired beach body look?

Below are some simple tips to hep you on your way.

  1. Get advice from a quality coach
  2. Set a realistic time frame
  3. Set goals –  a body size or shape you are happy and comfortable with
  4. Eat clean- chicken, fish, Turkey, eggs, sweet potatoes, jasmine/basmati rice, shit loads of veg (more dark greens) etc.
  5. Train hard and with determination to reach your goals (lift heavy, lift often, sprint)
  6. Calories – How much do you need? When and why (pre/post workout)
  7. Assess and re-assess- is it working? Do you need to change it or tweak anything?
  8. Reward yourself at successful points on your journey
  9. Get rid of any negative thoughts or people even if it is family
  10. Stay positive
  11. Remember you will have bad days, it is how you deal with them that will determine your success
  12. Visualise yourself reaching your goals every day
  13. Improve relaxation techniques and de-stress (massage, mediatate, walk)
  14. Sleep

Remember you are doing this for you, nobody else.

It will be hard work and you need to give it 100% if you truly want to be in amazing shape for your holiday.

Don’t piss about and think you can half arse it. If you want to be in the best shape possible for your holidays you will have to make some sacrifices.

With these sacrifices comes great pleasure and reward. You will have a new found confidence in life along with a body you are proud of.

Enjoy and I hope you take something away from it 😃
